Canadian poker pro Eric Wasylenko advanced from Day 1a of the WSOP Circuit Liechtenstein Main Event with 362,000 chips. Finishing sixth in the flight's chip counts, Wasylenko is well positioned in the CHF 1,071,792 prize pool event as play continues.

Canadian tournament regular Eric Wasylenko has positioned himself as a top contender at the WSOP Circuit stop in Liechtenstein. Advancing through the opening flight of the CHF 1,500 Main Event, Wasylenko bagged an impressive 362,000 chips on Day 1a.

The initial flight saw 109 entries, with only 17 players successfully navigating the 14 levels of play to secure a spot in Day 2 and lock up a min-cash.

Wasylenko finished the session sixth in the chip counts, a result that provides a strong foundation as the field continues to expand.

The current chip leader from the opening flight is Austria’s Samuel Klocker, who amassed a massive 796,000 stack. Other notable leaders include Martin Hoertnagl (627,000) and Florian Gehbauer (504,000).

Despite the heavy international competition, Wasylenko remains well above the flight average and firmly within striking distance of the leaders.

A Massive Prize Pool in Liechtenstein

For those following the Canadian poker scene, Wasylenko’s performance is a testament to the country's consistent presence in high-stakes international events. With a career that spans numerous major deep runs across North America and Europe, Wasylenko is no stranger to the pressure of large-field tournaments.

The WSOPC Liechtenstein Main Event has already grown significantly, reaching a total of 827 entries and generating a prize pool of CHF 1,071,792. As the tournament progresses toward the final table, the ability to leverage a healthy stack becomes a vital asset.

"Early chip counts do not guarantee a final-table appearance, but they provide the essential leverage needed to navigate the high-pressure spots of Day 2."

While the journey to a WSOP Circuit ring is long, the Calgary-based pro has already achieved the first goal of any major tournament: surviving the bubble and building a stack that can dictate the pace of play.

Canadian fans will be keeping a close eye on the live updates as the field narrows and the stakes rise in the heart of Europe.
